About Lab
Molecular Genetics Laboratory was established in the fall of 2014 as part of the International Center for Basic Research. Currently is a part of the Research center for molecular mechanisms of Aging and Age-related Diseases.
Field of research:
- Genetics of bacteria.
- Construction of producers of cellular metabolites and proteins.
- Design of whole-cell biosensors. The study of "quorum sensing" systems, chaperones, anti-restriction enzymes, peroxal enzymes.
Relations with the Molecular and Microbiology Department, College of Science, George Mason University, Fairfax, VA, USA.
Contact person at GMU Anna Vyacheslavovna Baranova, Associate Professor.
For students of the Department of Biophysics of Phystech-school of General and Applied Physics and other faculties, the forces of the laboratory conduct:
- Workshop on genetic engineering;
- An annual summer biological practice and a school for young scientists on the White Sea, in the framework of which the field biophysics course has been taught since 2016 and field research is carried out.
